meet the people working in the T&R lab
Caleigh is a graduate of the University of Regina, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology with a minor in Justice Studies. Her research interests focus on how children begin to reason about morality and come to understand the thoughts and motives of others as they age. Caleigh has had the opportunity to work abroad in both The Netherlands and Australia before returning to Canada this summer. In her free time, she enjoys working on pottery, training for a marathon, and keeping up with new developments in psychological research.
Victoria is finishing her undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg, majoring in Psychology. Her research interests revolve around children’s reasoning of knowledge, conceptual development, and how people apply their mental organization to organize the real world. In the lab, she is currently contributing to a project that investigates how children hold testimony givers responsible for the outcomes of their testimony, depending on the speakers’ characteristics and specific settings. In her free time, Victoria enjoys reading, attending live performances, and going on road trips within Manitoba.
Olivia is entering her fourth year at the University of Winnipeg, where she will be writing her thesis under the supervision of Dr. Brandon Goulding. In the TandR lab, Olivia is working on a project that investigates how children think about the possibility of events in real life, compared to playing pretend. Additionally, she is working on a project that examines how both adults and children think about order outside of the traditional count list. When she is not in the lab, Olivia enjoys crocheting, watching Jets games, and going to live shows and concerts!
Cassidy is currently a fourth-year undergraduate student studying within the Psychology program at The University of Winnipeg. Her research interests focus on child development, specifically children’s learning styles, psychological well-being, and their beliefs about the future. Within the Thinking and Reasoning Lab, she is involved in a project examining children’s reasoning about future-oriented objects. In her free time, Cassidy enjoys reading, watching Winnipeg Jets hockey games, and spending time with her two dogs.
Nerissa is a current Psychology student at The University of Winnipeg. Her research interests focus on child development and educational psychology. She also engages in work centred on children’s inclusion, numeracy, literacy, and well-being. Nerissa had the opportunity to live and work with children while abroad in England for two years. In her free time, Nerissa enjoys solving puzzles, playing volleyball, spending time with family, and attending sporting events.
Amy is a 4th year student at the University of Winnipeg completing a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Neuroscience. Her research interests focus on children’s development and spatial reasoning. In the lab Amy is engaged in a study investigating the development of children’s map-based navigation and route planning. In her free time Amy enjoys being outside going fishing, ice skating and camping, and spending time with her family.
