Meet the people working in the T&R Lab
Research Assistant
Abrar is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Winnipeg, majoring in Neuroscience. Her primary areas of research interest are children's language acquisition, emotional development, and moral reasoning. Abrar is deeply involved in the student community and actively contributes as a national and provincial executive member of the Canadian Federation of Students. Furthermore, she dedicates her time as a volunteer with the Immigration and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba. During her free time, Abrar enjoys capturing the world through photography and exploring new culinary creations.
Research Assistant
Victoria is beginning her fourth year of undergraduate studies at the University of Winnipeg, majoring in Psychology. Her research interests revolve around children’s social cognition and reasoning of knowledge. In the Thinking and Reasoning Lab, she is currently contributing to a project that investigates how children hold testimony givers responsible for the outcomes of their testimony, depending on the speakers’ characteristics and specific settings. In her free time, Victoria enjoys reading and exploring the natural beauty of Manitoba.
Research Assistant
Nerissa is a current Psychology student at The University of Winnipeg. Her research interests focus on child development and educational psychology. She also engages in work centred on children’s inclusion, numeracy, literacy, and well-being. Nerissa had the opportunity to live and work with children while abroad in England for two years. In her free time, Nerissa enjoys solving puzzles, playing volleyball, spending time with family, and attending sporting events.
Research Assistant
Caleigh is a graduate of the University of Regina, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology with a minor in Justice Studies. Her research interests focus on how children begin to reason about morality and come to understand the thoughts and motives of others as they age. Caleigh has had the opportunity to work abroad in both The Netherlands and Australia before returning to Canada this summer. In her free time, she enjoys working on pottery, training for a marathon, and keeping up with new developments in psychological research.
Research Assistant
Olivia is entering her third year at The University of Winnipeg, majoring in Psychology. Her research interests include how children reason about order, possibility, and phenomena that counteract intuitive expectations. In the lab, Olivia is engaged in a study that examines how children consider order in situations outside of the traditional number line. In her free time, Olivia enjoys crocheting, going to live shows and concerts, and spending time with animals.
Research Assistant
Cassidy is currently a fourth-year undergraduate student studying within the Psychology program at The University of Winnipeg. Her research interests focus on child development, specifically children’s learning styles, psychological well-being, and their beliefs about the future. Within the Thinking and Reasoning Lab, she is involved in a project examining children’s reasoning about future-oriented objects. In her free time, Cassidy enjoys reading, watching Winnipeg Jets hockey games, and spending time with her two dogs.
